Rabbana ... Our Lord!

Bismillah.

  1. The du'a of Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail (Surah al-Baqarah 2:127-128)



  1. The du'a of Prophet Dawud’s army (Surah al-Baqarah 2:201)

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atinaa fid-dunyaa Hasana-ttaw wa' fil akhirati Hasana-ttaw waqinaa `adhaaban-naar.

Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.


  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah al-Baqarah 2:286)

رَبَّنَا لاَ تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
 رَبَّنَا وَلاَ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَ
 رَبَّنَا وَلاَ تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لاَ طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ - وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنتَ مَوْلاَنَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana la tuaa-khidhnaa in-naseenaa aw akhta’na. Rabbana wala tahmil alaynaa is'ran kama hamaltahu alalladheena min qablinaa. Rabbana wala tuhammil'naa maa la taqata lana bihi; wa-u`fu anna wa-igh'fir lana wa-'irhamna anta mawlaanaa, fa-unsur' alal-qawmil kafireen.

  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah al-Imran 3:8-9)

رَبَّنَا لاَ تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ 

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobunaa ba`da idh hadaytanaa, wahab lana minal ladunka Rahmatan. Innaka antal-wahhab.

Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.

  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah al-Imran 3:16)

  1. The du’a of the disciples of Prophet Esa (Surah al-Imran 3:53)

  1. The du’a of the believers who fought with the Prophets (Surah al-Imran 3:147)

ربَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana-ighfirli lana dhunubanaa wa-is'rafanaa fi amrinaa wathabbit aqdamanaa wa-unsurnaa `alal-qawmil-kafireen.

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah al-Imran 3:191-194)

  1. The du’a of the righteous People of the Book (Surah al-Mai'dah 5:83)

  1. The du’a of Prophet Esa (Surah al-Mai’dah 5:114)

  1. The du’a of Prophet Adam and his wife Hawwa (Surah al-A’raf 7:23)

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbana dhalamnaa anfusanaa wa-illam taghfir lana watar-Hamnaa lana ku'nanna min-al khasireen.

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

  1. The du’a of those awaiting judgment on the Day of Resurrection (Surah al-A’raf 7:47)

رَبَّنَا لاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِي

Rabbana la taj`alnaa ma`al-qawmil dhaalimeen.

Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people.

  1. The du’a of Prophet Shu’aib (Surah al-A’raf 7:89)

رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

Rabbana iftah baynanaa wa bayan qawminaa bilhaqi wa-anta khayrul faatiheen.

Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.

  1. The du’a of the magicians of Pharaoh (Surah al-A’raf 7:126)

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Rabbana afrigh alaynaa sabran wataawaffana muslimeen.

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims.

  1. The du’a of righteous people during Prophet Musa’s time (Surah Yunus 10:85-86)

 عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لاَ تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Ala'llahi tawakkalnaa, rabbana la taj`alnaa fit’natalil qawmidh dhalimeena; wa najjinaa birahmatika min-al qawmil-kafireen.

Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not objects of trial for the wrongdoing people. And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.

  1. The du'a of Prophet Ibrahim (Surah Ibrahim 14:38, 40-41)

 رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِي وَمَا نُعْلِنُ وَمَا يَخْفَى عَلَى اللّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فَي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاء 

Rabbana innaka talamu maa nukhfi wamaa nu'linu wamaa yakhfa ala'llahi min shay'in fil-ardi wala fis-samaa’i.

Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on the earth or in the heaven.


  1. The du'a of the Companions of the Cave (Surah al-Kahf 18:10)

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

Rabbana aatinaa mil ladun-ka rahmatan, wahayyi lanaa min amrinaa rashada.

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.

  1. The du'a of Prophets Musa and Harun (Surah Ta Ha 20:45)

  1. The du’a of righteous people (Surah al-Mu’minun 23:109)

  1. The du’a of true worshippers (Surah al-Furqan 25:65-66)

  1. The du’a of righteous people (Surah al-Furqan 25:74)

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا 

Rabbana hab lana min azwaajinaa wa dhurriyyatinaa qurrata a`a yunnin waj`alnaa lil-muttaqeena imaama

Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.

  1. The du’a of the people of Paradise (Surah Fatir 35:34)

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ عَنَّا الْحَزَنَ ۖ إِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

Alhamdulillahi-ladhee adh-haba `annaHzan, inna rabbanaa la Ghafurun shakur.

Praise be to Allah Who hath put grief away from us. Our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving, ready to appreciate service.

  1. The du’a of the angels (Surah Ghafir 40:7-9)

رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ 

 رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُم وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ 

Rabbanaa wasi`ta kulla shayinn'raHmatan wa ilmann faghfir lilladheena taaboo wattaba'oo sabeelaka waqihim adhaabal jaheem. Rabbana wa'ad khilhum jannati `adni[n]llati wa`adttahum waman salaHa min aba'ihim wa-azwajihim wadhurriyya'tihim innaka antal azeezul-Hakeem

Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire. Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

  1. The du’a of the Muslims on the Last Day

 رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

Rabbana akshif annal-adhaaba inna mu'minoon

Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers.

  1. The du’a of the later Muslims for the earlier generations (Surah al-Hashr 59:10)

 رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَؤُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ 

Rabbana agh'fir lanaa wa-li'ikh'waanina'lladheenaa sabaqoonaa bil-'imaani wala taj`al fi qulubina ghillan lilladheena aamanoo. rabbanna innaka rau`fur-raheem.

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.

  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah al-Mumtahinah 60:4-5)

رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

Rabbanaa alayka tawakkalnaa wa ilayka anabnaa wa ilaykal miseer

Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.

  1. The du’a of the believers (Surah at-Tahreem 66:8)

رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Rabbanaa atmim lanaa nooranaa waghfirlanaa innaka `alaa kulli shay-inn qadeer

Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.
